Happy St. Patrick's Day

A little late, but I just wanted to show pictures of my cute girls in their green from grandma Jacobs. We got an all green package about a week before St. Patrick's Day and the girls loved it! Annie made a leprechaun trap for school, but no body caught one. She was so disappointed :) And she was worried all day about our green dinner because last year she threw up after it, but I told her not to worry. Needless to say, she did not eat any of the green cookies that night. We had pesto pasta, asparagus, green salad, green grapes, lemon-lime kool aid and green snicker doodles...it was so much fun! It was a super nice day, so we played outside almost all day and painted our toes and fingernails green. I was not too happy about painting my fingernails, but Madelyn was about in tears with her request for me to be just like her! We also did cute little "gold" bags for our neighbors/friends....I got a bunch of gold candy (rolos, snickers, twix, werther's, reese's, hershey's nuggets) and put them in little bags with a note "Hey it's your lucky day, a little green leprechaun came your way, to wish you a Happy St. Patrick's Day" (this is courtesy of my friend Angela). Madelyn and Alyse had so much fun putting it on our friends doors! That night we had a treasure hunt for gold. The girls found clues everywhere that led them to the dryer where the pot of "gold" was hidden!!!

What a great festive mom - you must've inherited in from your mom:)
I was pretty boring this year, only a leprechaun treasure hunt at the end of the day. But I love the 'gold candy' treat bags...much better that gold coins or butterscotch drops (yuck). I'll have to file these ideas away for next year! You are so inspiring!!!

So fun! I've never done much for St. Patrick's Day, but I think I will next year. Your girls look like they loved it. What great ideas!

I am beyond impressed with your celebrations! I did NOTHING for this holiday! "Every party need a pooper and that's why we invited ME" I here today vow to be more festive and enjoy holidays more with my boys. You are so FUN! And your girls are gorgeous by the way!

Wow! I love all of your "green" celebrations. I may have to try the green dinner and gold bags for friends. It sounds like you had a blast! I am also a mom and love to set up a leprechaun visit each year. I was never very excited about St. Patrick's Day until I found some ideas from Steve Spangler http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/experiment/st-patrick-s-day-science. We set traps, but never catch the sneaky guys. The leprechauns leave behind pistachio pudding mix (leprechaun stew - it turns green when you add milk), slimy footprints and turn the water green. (see the link for directions on how to do this). Laurel
