A few more sayings...

6/9/10-
While out in California visiting my parents (Kurt was unable to come...he had to stay home and work to pay for our trip:)) Alyse was talking to Kurt on the phone, "I lost my heart because I miss you so much."

7/18/10-
On our drive home from Utah, it was Madelyn's turn to pick out the movie to watch. Her and Alyse had just gotten in a little fight, so Madelyn tells Alyse, "I'm going to pick out a Barbie movie that's not your favorite." She picks out one that Alyse does not want to watch, so Madelyn proceeds to tell her, "Then you just don't have to watch it Alyse."

7-20-10
It was Alyse's turn to say the family prayer...."Thank you for the prophets and the missionaries. And one of the prophets is named President Monson and that's the one I was praying for."

It's a.....

GIRL!!!!

Just thought I'd let those who don't know already that we found out Wednesday that we are having another girl!! We are super excited and not sure about the teen years :)
Annie was disappointed, but then perked right up when we took her to pick out a new outfit for her little sister....Madelyn yelled, WhooHoo! She really wanted a sister and then told me the next one could be a brother. Alyse was hoping for a boy, but then said that little girl babies are pretty cute too......I thought about posting the ultrasound picture, but not much to see :) She was moving all over the place and we almost didn't find out!!! We are just super excited that everything looked good and that she is healthy. Next up will be to pick a name, which as of right now, we have no clue about!!!

What in the world!!!!

When we moved to Colorado, we signed an 18 month lease on a house. We were even hoping that things with our landlord and her boyfriend would work out and we could stay put for at least a year after that. We are now 4 1/2 months into our lease, which we apparently did not read all that well, and are being kicked out. Things with our landlord and her boyfriend, whom she moved in with, are not going well and she wants her place back. SERIOUSLY!!! Who does that to their tenants....it is a little ironic though. In the past week, Kurt and I have both had conversations with people about how we like our place just OK and how we feel like we are paying too much for it. Kurt's friend was telling him, well maybe something will happen and you can get out of your lease early. Well, lo and behold, the next day is when I got a call from our landlord, while I was getting ready for church. She said she hated to do it, but that she was sending written notice and we had 30 days to get out. I realize this is most likely a blessing in disguise, it's just that it's such a pain to get moved and settled again. I feel like we were just getting to know our neighbors a little and the house was getting organized, etc. Oh well, such is life I guess. When I think about it, I get really irritated and annoyed at our landlord, but maybe we'll find something even better that will work great for us!!
Our bishop is a huge real estate guy around here and he is bound and determined to keep us in the ward, so that is a good thing. He told me that we came here for a reason and we're still here for that reason, so we was going to find us a place :)
Anyway, that's what's new with our life.....craziness!!
Here's a few pics of the house we're in for the next month :)

Kurt's Graduation....

So, I know this is a little, well 3 months late, but it still needs to be documented. Kurt graduated from Orthodontic Residency February 26th. There's not a lot of hoopla that goes with it, no ceremony or anything like that. And I have to admit, I was not that excited to go, since the previous year was not that great. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The dinner was at Maggianos and my mom had flown out for that and to help us drive to Colorado the next day. A few of the part time faculty were there and the staff and of course, Dr. M, the director of the program.
Everyone had such nice things to say about Kurt, it was very impressive and very nice. Now, if only I could remember everything. I meant to write it all down, but in the midst of moving somehow forgot.
Dr. M said that Kurt was a natural leader. That he didn't lead by force, but by example, the way a leader should...a silent leader. That he was really able to bring everyone together after a tough go of it. (Dr. L, the old director and Dr. M did not see eye to eye, actually didn't even speak to each other, so it was a rough second year-a definite power struggle between the two men.)
Kurt got up and spoke a little and got choked up. I forget that although there were complaints about the program and some of the residents that this was his life for over 2 1/2 years. He spent day in and day out with these people. It was very touching to see.
It was a very surreal experience for me. It was the end of a wonderful chapter in our lives...school-almost 11 years. I can't explain all the incredible experiences we had, people we met, life long friends we made, opportunities presented before us and all the blessings we received along the way. I know these will all continue, but it will be different. It was definitely a bitter-sweet moment!

Sayings and little stories

So, I have a stack of papers from the past couple of months and a few from last year of my girls sayings or stories about them. I keep thinking I'll put them in their "books", but since I am so behind on those I need to put them somewhere to preserve them for history's sake! I only have each girls first year done so far. So, here are a few things about my girls....my guess is they are mostly from Alyse, but we'll see :) Then, I can throw that stack of paper away and my mom will be so happy to see one less pile in my house:)
I unfortunately don't have a date on this one, but my guess is it's from a few years back...I'll say 2008 -
Alyse has been known as quite the crier, so one day after Alyse has been crying for some time Annie says to me, "I think when she cries her brain gets a little bit smaller and she can't remember stuff."

This one is from September 2009-
Alyse- "Mom, who's your favorite?" (meaning my favorite brother)
Mom- "All my brothers"
Alyse- "I don't think so, I think it's Michael." (with a sly grin)
Mom- "Who's your favorite?"
Alyse- "Uncle Michael"

Last year early 2009
Annie was not feeling well in church and was in the middle of coloring a picture, so Alyse asked if she wanted her to finish her picture. Then she would ask Annie what color she wanted each thing to be colored on her page.

Jan 2009
Alyse kept getting out of bed and it was so hard to get mad at her...she would come down the stairs and sneak over to the couch and then Kurt and I would ask her what she was doing out of bed...she would say, "I just can't remember sometimes if I love you." Then she would go back up and repeat this, only each time she would come up with something different that she couldn't remember if she loved or not, such as the decorations, grandpa and grandma, her blanket, etc.

10/12/09
At the dinner table one night when Kurt was not home, the girls were talking about who the funniest in the family is...this is what they came up with:
Dad's the funniest, then Annie, then Alyse, then mom, no not mom, then Madelyn, your last mommy-you're not ever very funny.
Alyse- "Sometimes you scare us"
Annie- "But you are the scariest"
Thanks girls!

10/2009
Madelyn had gotten Mike and Ikes as a treat and dumped them all into her car seat, Alyse observing this says, "I did not dump mine out because mine are not dumpers, mine are chocolates."

11/12/2009
After drawing names for cousin gifts on my side of the family - Annie drew Kate and Kate drew Annie - Annie exclaims "This is the best day of my life!"

11/29/2009
Annie and Alyse are doing magic tricks. Annie is actually doing it to Alyse...the whole coin coming out of the ear, which Annie is not that smooth at...
Annie puts the coin in her hand and asks Alyse, "Where is it?"
Alyse- "I don't know, maybe in my ear?"
Annie then proceeds to go over and pull it out of her ear....the girls are dying laughing in astonishment that it was in Alyse's ear.
A little later Alyse says, "It was in my ear and it didn't even hurt!"

3/10/2010
Alyse and Madelyn are trying to share one of our green kitchen chairs, when I over hear this:
Alyse- "Madelyn scoot over, I'm falling off. You have a big bum, I have a skinny bum. Scoot over!"
Then again, 2 minutes later:
Alyse- "Madelyn scoot over. I'm falling off. You are the chubbiest in our family!"

3/31/2009
I am thinking that Madelyn is finally getting the hang of time out in her room...however, now when she gets put in there, about 30 seconds later she comes running out saying, "I have to go potty"....so I put her on and nothing comes out. The tactics are starting already!!! I am in trouble...

4/19/2010
We were in the car listening to music when all of a sudden Alyse says "Mom, I'm just not listening to the music, I'm having a day dream." which of course I hear the exact same thing from Madelyn 5 seconds later!

4/21/2010
I go downstairs and Madelyn has colored all over her hands, so we clean them up and go over the rules again...our hands are not paper. We only color on paper. She agrees and I finish getting ready. About 10 minutes later we are leaving to go run errands...I see pen on the front side of her hand
Mom- "Madelyn, I thought we talked about this, we do not color on ourselves!"
Madelyn- "Mom, I didn't. It's a pretendable"
Mom- "What's that?"
Madelyn- "It's a buca bock."
Mom- "What's that?"
Madelyn- "It means you have to write on your hand."
Madelyn is dead serious throughout this whole conversation...what's a mom to do?!!

4/28/2010
Alyse's leg is hurting her this night and we have told her that when her legs are hurting it usually means that she is growing, so....
Alyse- "Mom, feel my legs. I think they might be growing. Can you feel it?"
So, I feel it and tell her yes I can feel them growing
Alyse- "Mom, the other one is starting to hurt too. Feel it to see if it's growing too!"
She was so excited that her legs were growing!

5/12/2010
Alyse was being a terrible listener and so I told her that she was not able to have family scripture reading with us until she was all ready for bed, like her other sisters already were. That was to be her punishment. Well she kept coming in the room, not ready, so I finally threatened her with a spanking if she came in again without being ready...I thought the problem was solved. So, later that night, after Kurt got home, I was telling Alyse how sad I was that she had to miss scriptures (we had talked about the birth of Jesus, so I thought it was perfect.) However, she informed me, "No, I heard it mom. I heard it through the little hole in the door and into the hole in my ear. You talked about Jesus."
So much for punishment....sneaky eavesdropper!!!

What I love...

I am so excited to be here in CO...my brother and his family are just 25 minutes away...too far, but we seems to be seeing each other often enough right now. I know things will get busier for both of us, but I am so excited to be close to family. This is why we moved to CO (besides Kurt's job:)...
I have also been meaning to take a picture of the two times it's snowed since we've been here, but when I wake up in the morning and go to take a picture the snow has already melted!! I guess that's another thing I love about here, so far!!!
